Utah Plumber License Renewal (DOPL)
Last reviewed November 2026
Every Utah plumber license (apprentice, journeyman, master, residential journeyman and residential master) is due for renewal on November 30 of even years, with renewal dates of November 30, 2026 and November 30, 2028. You renew online with the Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL) in My License One, signing in with your UtahID: the renewal fee is $68 on DOPL's fee schedule, and you need 12 hours of continuing education, at least 8 of them core, apprentices included. A license that isn't renewed by its expiration date expires, and working on it after that is unlawful.
- Expires
- November 30 of even years, for every plumber license classification. That makes the renewal dates November 30, 2026 and November 30, 2028
- Continuing education
- 12 hours of approved CE each two-year cycle, at least 8 of them core. The other 4 can be core or professional. Utah law counts apprentice plumbers as licensed plumbers for this, so apprentices owe the 12 hours too
Utah Contractor License Renewal (DOPL)
Last reviewed October 2026
Every Utah contractor license, general or specialty, renews with the Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL) on the same two-year cycle and expires on November 30 of odd-numbered years: next on November 30, 2027. Before you can renew online in My License One, you need 6 hours of approved continuing education posted to DOPL's CE registry (at least 3 core and at least 3 taught live), a liability insurance certificate of at least $1,000,000 per incident and $2,000,000 total naming DOPL as certificate holder, and workers' compensation coverage or a waiver. A license not renewed by its expiration date expires automatically.
- Renews every
- Two years. Inactive licenses must be renewed every two years too
- Continuing education
- 6 hours of approved CE each two-year cycle. At least 3 must be core education (such as construction codes and laws, job site safety, OSHA 10 or 30 training, finance, bookkeeping, energy conservation and construction business practices); the rest can be core or professional. At least 3 hours must be live; DOPL says a live webinar counts, and no more than 3 hours can be online
