  • Maine Electrician License Renewal

    Last reviewed October 2026

Maine Electricians' Examining Board licenses run two years; master and journeyman licenses count from the date you were first licensed. Master, journeyman, limited and journeyman-in-training electricians renew for $150 ($20 if you're over 70) and certify a 15-hour National Electrical Code update course, except in the renewal years the board's schedule skips (2028 is one). Renew up to 90 days late with a $50 late fee; you're considered unlicensed from the expiration date until you do.

A 15-hour current National Electrical Code update course, certified when you renew, for master, journeyman, limited and journeyman-in-training electricians. Helper and apprentice electricians need none
  • Maine Plumber License Renewal

    Last reviewed October 2026

Maine Plumbers' Examining Board licenses for master, journeyman and trainee plumbers expire two years after the date they were issued, so each license has its own date. Renewal is online only: $200 for a master or journeyman and $100 for a trainee. Renew up to 90 days late with a $50 late fee; a master or journeyman who is 90 days to 2 years late can still reinstate without retaking the exam. The journeyman-in-training license runs a single four years and can't be renewed.
