Know before your business insurance expires
A trade business often carries several policies, each renewing on its own date, and a client or general contractor may ask for proof of coverage before you start. LicenseLedger keeps each policy with its expiration date and the policy document itself, and emails you before it runs out.
No credit card required.
Policies suggested on every new ledger
Whichever trade you pick, these are among the suggestions, so the only thing you must type is the expiration date. Any other policy with an expiration date can be added too.
- General Liability Insurance
- Workers' Compensation Insurance
- Commercial Auto Insurance
How to track your policies in LicenseLedger
Add one insurance record per policy
Pick the policy from the suggestions on your new ledger, or type its name. Optionally, put the insurer under Issuing body and the policy number under Record number.
Attach the policy or its declarations page
Upload it as a PDF or photo, so it’s on hand when a client, a general contractor or an inspector asks for proof of coverage.
Get emailed before it expires
On a paid plan, reminders go to your ledger’s notification email 90, 60, 30, 7 and 1 days before the policy expires by default, and on the day itself, so there’s time to renew with your agent. If it lapses and the date isn’t updated, we follow up 1, 7 and 30 days later.
Update it when the policy renews
In the same save, enter the new expiration date and attach the renewed policy. The previous one stays in the record’s renewal history.
Also in your ledger
- Your licenses, bonds and certifications in the same ledger as your policies.
- Already list your policies in a spreadsheet? Import it as a CSV, or paste the rows straight from Excel or Google Sheets.
- Choose the reminder days for the whole ledger, or for one policy.
- Every expiration date in Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar through a calendar link.
- A compliance summary of every record and its status, ready to print.
What it doesn't do
LicenseLedger tracks dates and keeps the documents. It doesn't renew a policy, contact your insurer or agent, or compare quotes, and it doesn't read a policy's coverage limits or tell you which coverage you need: ask your agent, and check what your state and your clients require.
What it costs
Every new ledger starts on the free plan, with no credit card needed. Pick a plan when you need more.

- BusinessFor teams that manage licenses together.$29 a monthor $290 a year
The free plan holds 3 records and sends only one reminder email 30 days before each record expires (for records that keep their 30-day reminder), so the full reminder schedule about your policies takes Solo or Business.
