License and insurance reminders for general contractors

A general contractor usually carries a contractor license and several insurance policies, often a surety bond too, and collects certificates of insurance from subs. Each one expires on its own date. Miss one and you can be off a job until it's sorted. LicenseLedger keeps every date in one place and emails you before each one expires.

What general contractors usually track

Pick “General contractor” on your new ledger and these are suggested for you, so all you type is the expiration date. Anything else with an expiration date can be added too.

  • Contractor LicenseLicense
  • Contractor Surety BondOther
  • General Liability InsuranceInsurance
  • Workers' Compensation InsuranceInsurance
  • Commercial Auto InsuranceInsurance
  • Subcontractor Certificate of Insurance (COI)Insurance

Not ready to sign up? Download these as a free spreadsheet (CSV), with a business license and a vehicle added and example dates to replace with your own. It's in the columns LicenseLedger's import reads.

Put your license in your calendar

Know your expiration date? Download a free calendar file with reminders before it, no sign-up needed. It's made in your browser: nothing you type is sent to us (your browser keeps it only if you follow the sign-up link, for your new ledger). A Google Calendar button sends just that one event to Google.

Remind me before it expires

The expiration day itself is always in the file. Reminders whose day has already passed are left out.

How to add it to your calendar

What LicenseLedger does for you

  • Email reminders 90, 60, 30, 7 and 1 days before each expiration date by default, plus on the day itself, on a paid plan.
  • The license, policy or certificate itself attached to its record, as a PDF or photo.
  • Import the spreadsheet you keep today, saved as a CSV from Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Every renewal date in Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar through a calendar link.
  • Your office manager or crew in one shared ledger. Teammates need the Business plan ($29/mo).
