Which trades is LicenseLedger built for?

Electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs and general contractors. Pick your trade on a new ledger and it suggests the records that trade usually carries, so all you type is the date. Any license, policy or certification with an expiration date can be tracked.

How do reminders get sent?

On Solo and Business, we email the notification address in your settings 90, 60, 30, 7 and 1 days before each item's expiration date by default, plus on the day itself. You can change the days for any record, or the default for new records in Settings. If a record expires and its date isn't updated, we follow up 1, 7 and 30 days later. The free plan sends one reminder email 30 days before each record expires (for records that keep their 30-day reminder).

Can I store the actual license or policy document?

Yes. Each tracked item supports a document upload (PDF or photo), stored privately and accessible only to your account.

Can I track certificates of insurance (COIs)?

Yes. Add each COI as an insurance record with its expiration date and attach the certificate itself. It gets the same reminder emails as your license, so you can ask for a renewed certificate before the old one runs out.

I keep my renewal dates in a spreadsheet. Can I import it?

Yes. Save the spreadsheet as a CSV file from Excel or Google Sheets and import it from your ledger. You can download a template. Rows that can't be read are listed so you can fix them, and the rest are added.

Can I see renewal dates in my calendar?

Yes. Settings has a calendar link you can subscribe to in Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar. New and changed dates show up the next time your calendar app refreshes.

Can my office manager or crew use the same account?

Yes. The owner invites teammates by email and everyone works in one shared ledger. Teammates need the Business plan ($29/mo), with no per-seat fees.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. Every new ledger starts on it: up to 3 records and one reminder email 30 days before each record expires (for records that keep their 30-day reminder), with no credit card needed. Solo and Business add unlimited records and the full reminder schedule.

What happens if I stop paying for a plan?

Your account drops to the free plan instead of locking you out - everything you've already added stays safe and visible. On the free plan you're capped at 3 records and it sends only one reminder email 30 days before each record expires (for records that keep their 30-day reminder); subscribing again brings back the rest.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, there's no contract. Manage or cancel your subscription anytime from the billing page.

A missed renewal isn't a paperwork problem.

Renewal dates get buried in old emails and spreadsheets go stale. By the time a license, policy, or certification lapses, it's too late to fix quietly. Here's what a lapse can actually cost:

California

Work while unlicensed, and you may have to give the money back.

A contractor who wasn't licensed at all times during a job can't sue to collect payment for it, and the customer can sue to recover what they already paid. Even a lapse partway through the job counts.

Florida

An unlicensed contractor's contract can't be enforced.

Contracts entered into by an unlicensed contractor are unenforceable by that contractor. If the client doesn't pay, the contractor has no claim to make them.

California

A lapsed workers' comp policy suspends your license automatically.

If required workers' compensation coverage isn't maintained, the contractor's license is suspended by operation of law: no hearing, no warning. The license is fine; the insurance date is what got missed.
