Idaho Electrician License Renewal (DOPL)
Last reviewed October 2026
Idaho electrical licenses are issued by the Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) for the Idaho Electrical Board. Master, journeyman and residential electrician licenses last three years and expire three years from your birthday. No continuing education is required to renew: the Legislature removed it when it approved the board's current rules in 2025. Electrical contractors show $300,000 of liability insurance, and workers' compensation where it applies, every time they renew. From October 30, 2026 DOPL moves the board's licenses that run shorter than two years to a two-year cycle.

Idaho Plumber License Renewal (DOPL)
Last reviewed October 2026
Idaho plumbers are licensed by the Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) for the State Plumbing Board with a certificate of competency: contractor, journeyman and the matching specialty classes. Certificates last three years. There's no master plumber license in Idaho, and DOPL says there are no continuing education requirements for plumbing. Contractors keep a $2,000 compliance bond in force for the whole certificate period and show it was renewed to renew. A certificate that lapses can be revived within two years without an exam by paying the full initial fee.

Your expiration date is on your registration certificate, and you can renew online up to 60 days before it.
